The Material Mansfield: Traces of a Writer's Life.
Over 50 items of clothing and possesions, together in New Zealand for the first time. Items included in the exhibition - bed jacket, Ukrainian folk costume, travelling chess set, locks of hair, scissors, Indian silk shawl, hussif doll, hei tiki, Mansfield's Bible and autograph book, perfume bottle, postcards, and her will.
These items will never be together again, and as many have been loaned from other countries, this is a very unique exhibition.
Many of the items are accompanied by brief quotes from Mansfield's letters and other writing.
Wall panels depict her sense of style, captured in photographs and comments by the people who knew her.
