Mothers: 'The Hull of a Canoe'

In te ao Māori there is a whakataukī: Ko te whaea te takere o te waka; mothers are like the hull of the canoe, they are the heart of the family. In this exhibition, which extends beyond the Exhibition Room and into the house, 2024 Parkin Scholar Lily McCowan brings together works that portray women in maternal relationships with others.

This exhibition comes to Katherine Mansfield House & Garden from The Wellington Club and will introduce visitors to artists they may be unfamiliar with as well as leading contemporary artists.

Admission fees apply to visit the house, or entry by donation to visit the works displayed in the Exhibition Room only.
