Patchwork Creative: Quilts from Wellington Quilters

This exhibition showcases a selection of patchwork quilts made by members of the Wellington Quilters’ Guild. Some have been made using related fabrics to create a story. Others have used a selection of fabrics to create a mood.

Katherine Mansfield took ordinary words to tell her stories and create the imagery within them. It was the way she used those words that lifted her stories beyond what most people can achieve. A patchworker creates in a similar vein. Through the selection of fabrics, the design and layout, and using specialised skills, pieces of ordinary fabrics are brought together in new ways and transformed into something beautiful, useful and often long cherished.

The quilts in this exhibition are for sale, with a percentage of the proceeds going towards the care of Katherine Mansfield House & Garden and its collection.
