Short Threads

A group of embroiderers from throughout New Zealand were asked to create stitched pieces inspired by the short stories of Katherine Mansfield to be displayed over the summer at Katherine Mansfield House & Garden.

Some stitchers had stories that they loved, while others were given stories at random. No two have used the same story which introduces the viewers to some of Mansfield's lesser-known texts.

Curated by Jo Dixey, a freelance needleworker and teacher who studied at the Royal School of Needlework in London. As well as pursuing her own creative work, she undertakes a wide range of commissions including work for the film and fashion industries.
