Accessibility

Katherine Mansfield House & Garden is a modestly-sized historic house. Entry to the house is via steps and there is an internal staircase with a handrail and a landing at the half-way point. If you have physical accessibility requirements, please contact us to discuss how we can facilitate your visit.

Unfortunately, the house is not wheelchair accessible. There is a toilet available for visitors' use but we do not have an accessible bathroom.

As the majority of the rooms in the house are furnished to present a Victorian home, we mainly hold events in the upstairs Laurel Harris Room, which has much more space for seating. Our exhibition space is also upstairs in one of the original bedrooms.

Mobility Parking space

There is a mobility parking space approximately 50 meters from the house, near the corner of Tinakori Road and Hobson Street (outside 100 Hobson Street). The photos below show the route from the mobility parking space to Katherine Mansfield House & Garden (click on the images to see them in full). The footpath is flat and in good condition. If the distance from the mobility parking space is not suitable, you can contact us in advance to arrange driving into the driveway of Katherine Mansfield House & Garden to be dropped off.

Seating
Some rooms do not have seating for visitors as the chairs in them are part of our collection. However, we can set up a chair in each room if you need to take breaks while walking around the house. Let one of our friendly team know and they will be happy to arrange this for you.
 
Allergies
The house is professionally cleaned weekly and objects are dusted regularly, but if you are particularly sensitive to dust you may like to consider wearing a face mask while visiting as we cannot guarantee the house is completely dust-free at any time.
